New England Acura Dealers Present $1M Check to Boston Children’s Hospital

Boston Children's Hospital Celebrates New England Acura Dealers Partnership

The New England Acura Dealers Association presented a check for one million dollars to the Boston Children's Hospital on Apr. 17. The donation, which is raised from a portion of the proceeds of every Acura sold, goes toward the Children’s Fund, an unrestricted fund that supports the hospital’s areas of greatest need in patient care, research and community health.

"It means a lot to us to be able to make such a large donation to BCH, knowing that it will help patients and their families from all over," said Dick Argys. "We are proud to continue our partnership with the hospital and go for one million dollars."

To begin the festivities, representatives from the NEADA gathered at BCH for a meet and greet with Dick Argys, BCH chief admin. officer, who delivered a brief speech with Chis Connolly, president of the NEADA. Afterward, the representatives spent time doing crafts with patients and touring Zebrafish lab.

“Boston Children’s Hospital is a great institution delivering miracles daily. There isn’t a better organization to support,” said Chris Connolly, NEADA President and general manager at Herb Connolly Acura.

NEADA will also continue to serve as a top-level sponsor at all signature fundraisers benefiting the hospital including the recent Champions for Children’s event on Dec. 2, where NEADA raffled off an all-new 2015 AcuraTLX that was on display during the event. The proceeds of the raffle went toward the nearly $4 million raised for Boston Children’s that evening. During the past two holiday seasons, the dealers also donated 10 percent of their customers’ service or repair bills and raised an additional $50,000.

Starting January 2015, the New England Acura Dealers Association extended their initial Nov. 2012 pledge of $500,000 over two years to one million dollars over four-years for Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH).

Additional NEADA donation to the Boston Children's Hospital

The New England Acura Dealers Donate Additional $25,000 to Boston Children’s Hospital

For the second consecutive year, Sunnyside Acura in Nashua, NH a part of the New England Acura Dealers Association (NEADA) presented Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) with a check for an additional $25,000 donation, thanks to the help of their loyal service customers.

NEADA Service Managers

From Dec. 2, 2014 to the end of 2014, the NEADA donated 10 percent from every customer’s service bill to BCH. The NEADA also matched 10 percent of customers’ service bills with a donation to BCH. The additional donation comes after the association’s recent announcement to extend their initial Nov.-2012 pledge of support to donate $500,000 to BCH over a two-year span to $1 million over a four-year span.

“The New England Acura Dealers take great pride in knowing that the relationships we have built with Boston Children’s Hospital, our Acura clientele and the community have made a positive impact in the sales and service departments,” said Brandt De Jonge, district parts and service manager for Acura in New England. “The Acura service experience is second to none and we are so pleased with this year’s response. Matthew Q. Phillips, Acura division, senior district sales manager – District 5A, echoed this sentiment with, “after meeting the dedicated hospital staff and the resilient kids and families, it reminded us all that we need to spend more time using what we have to help others.”
De Jonge and Phillips, along with the seven service managers from each of the NEADA’s dealerships, presented BCH with the $25,000 check on Jan. 23.

The holiday service donation initiative began on Giving Tuesday – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – with the NEADA donating a large shipment of teddy bears to the hospital and dealership representatives hosting a kid’s arts and crafts session at BCH. Last year the dealers raised $25,000 in addition to their $500,000 commitment. The initiative also came on the heels of the annual Champions for Children’s event, an all-star fundraiser featuring NEADA representatives alongside Boston’s business leaders and sports teams—the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and New England Revolution.

The NEADA’s ongoing support of BCH began with their pledge in November 2012. The donation, which is raised from a portion of the proceeds of every Acura sold, goes toward the Children’s Fund, an unrestricted fund that supports the hospital’s areas of greatest need.

The 2.4-liter TLX has an MSRP of $30,995* and $35,025* with the Technology Package. For handling prowess, it features the latest iteration of Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS).
  • The Acura TLX with a 3.5-liter 24-valve V-6 delivering 290-horsepower4 is mated to a new 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT) and will be available with both P-AWS and Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®). The two-wheel-drive model with P-AWS has a MSRP of $35,220* and $39,250* for the Technology Package. The 3.5-liter TLX with Advance Package has a MSRP of $42,500*.

Super Handling Technology
The latest iterations of Acura super-handling technologies, P-AWS and SH-AWD, along with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), help make the TLX the most dynamically advanced Acura ever produced; quick and responsive in sporty driving, stable and sure-footed in emergency maneuvers, and calm and quiet during long-distance cruising.
2015 Acura TLX SH-AWD
  • The new P-AWS system was integrated into the fundamental chassis design from the earliest stages of development, allowing engineers to take full advantage of its independent left and right rear-wheel toe angle control to enhance handling precision, maneuverability and stability.
  • The next-generation SH-AWD system is 25 percent lighter and friction is substantially reduced. The new rear-drive unit is constantly overdriven by 2.7-percent (compared to 1.7 percent on the previous system), with a greater torque-vectoring effect across a broader spectrum of driving situations, further enhancing cornering capability at lower speeds and in tighter-radius corners.
All TLX models also feature the latest development of Acura's Integrated Dynamics System (IDS), which allows drivers to customize their driving experience through four selectable modes; ECON, Normal, Sport and Sport+. Depending on the setting, IDS will adjust power-steering effort, throttle response, transmission shift logic, HVAC system operation, active sound control and the control logic for either the P-AWS or SH-AWD systems. The new Sport+ mode, a first for Acura, unlocks the full performance potential of the TLX with the most aggressive settings in all areas.  Reserve your 2015 Acura TLX at Sunnyside Acura in Nashua, NH
